Volunteering at the Omaha National Cemetery

The Omaha National Cemetery Support Committee (ONCSC) is an all volunteer group organized into an Executive Board; consisting of five elected members and two appointed chairs from its membership. Becoming a registered VA
member gives you voting rights in this organization and the fulfillment of serving others.

There are several ways to become involved. Our largest event each year is our Memorial Day Celebration and Flag placement. Many volunteers are needed to honor our veterans during this event.

We have a section of highway that is assigned to our organization close to the cemetery to clean up several times a year. Always a fun time

We help the regional coordinator in Omaha with Wreaths Across America (WAA) each year in December placing a wreath by each headstone.

Registered VA members may be requested by the Cemetery Director to assist with large crowds at the time of interment, dedication or programs that may be held during the year at the cemetery.

We have some registered VA members that help host the cemetery lobby during regular business hours Monday through Friday. These volunteers need to have good phone etiquette, people skills and enjoy helping visitors, veterans and families during services. There is a training period for those wanting to volunteer in the cemetery lobby. More details and duties will be provided by our Volunteer Chair if you are interested.

Volunteering at the Omaha National Cemetery is very rewarding. Come join us at our meetings held the last Thursday of each month at the American Legion Post 374 13913 S. Plaza, Omaha, NE at 6:00 PM to learn more about how you may be involved helping our veterans and families.

For more information or to volunteer contact us at ONCSC.Volunteers@gmail.com or ONCSC.Committee@gmail.com or you can fill out the form below.  Someone will contact you in the near future.
